Where each city publishes violations
These DFW cities have live, searchable code-enforcement data:
- ✓Dallas - Dallas Open Data (dallasopendata.com), code enforcement dataset, searchable by address
- ✓Plano - Plano Open Data portal, code violations dataset
- ✓Fort Worth - data.fortworthtexas.gov, code violations dataset
- ✓Arlington - the city ArcGIS open-records code enforcement layer
- ✓Other DFW cities often require a phone or email request to the code department (no public portal yet).
How to read what you find
Focus on: is the violation OPEN or closed; how recent (the last 6 months matters most); and the type - structural, health/sanitation, and infestation violations are far more serious than a tall-grass notice. A complex with multiple open, recent, health-related violations is telling you something.
Or check it in one place
Our apartment red-flags tool pulls these same official records for you and only flags recent ones, with a link back to the source dataset - so you do not have to learn four different city portals.
